Description:
Rightly called 'Walking leaves' these insects from the family Phylliidae, protect themselves from predation by looking just like leaves. They resemble leaves so perfectly that they even glow like leaves when the sunlight filters through them. Some insects even have holes and blotches to complete their appearance while some others resemble dry and dead wrinkled leaves.
Habitat:
Rainforest and Evergreen forest of Agumbe which is a part of the Western Ghats. It is also recognized as one of the world’s eight hottest hotspots' of biological diversity, inscribed in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites list in July 2012
