Leaf Mining Fly

Leaf mining flies get their name from there yellow coloured larvae that mine through living leaves depositing refuse behind them as they go. The fly itself is small to minute with a black and yellow body. this female has an abdomen full of eggs to lay on these nasturtium leaves. This particular sub species, A. Liriomyza is identified by the prominent yellow spot on its back between the wings.
