Leaf Mining Fly
16.7131, -92.6126
Field Notes
Description:
A 1 mm fly of the Family Agromyzidae or Leaf Mining Flies. They are usually minute since their larvae mine tunnels between the layers of leaves. Many are important pests of cultivated or agricultural plants. They really are too small for a normal macro lens and would look better under a microscope. Some of the larval Leaf Mines are blotches while others are long and serpentine (see references as well as this spotting:

Habitat:
Came to lights at night, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
