yes Mark, I agree... a fanstastic ID effort. Could use a few more like that on my many fungi that only have genus ID!! Thank you so much to TheMiesMeister...
Hi pamsai! What a cute littIe beauty! think you might want to check out the genus Leucoagaricus. And if I search the google-pictures, Leucoagaricus melanotrichus seems a perfect fit. Upstanding partial veil, which is darker than the stipe, the dark scaly capsurface, the freestanding white gills. I have added a description from the Dutch scientific identificationserie Flora Agaricina Neerlandica, where even more Leucoagaricus are described. Cheers! http://books.google.nl/books?id=Ckubw5T_bo8C&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=leucoagaricus+melanotrichus&source=bl&ots=t_2t95b-lZ&sig=jTabkPIjekpndFsw4khWaiaqWUU&hl=nl&sa=X&ei=PVMEU5THK6yS7Abh34GgAw&ved=0CDoQ6AEwAjgU#v=onepage&q=leucoagaricus%20melanotrichus&f=false
