Field Notes

Description:

3'. Carapace elongated, heart shaped, with 3 lines of knobby keels, 1 knob per scute; older individuals smoother, with central keel only; dark reddish brown. Plastron creamy yellow. Head large, with dark brown scales on top; beak pointed. Skin light yellow, scales of flippers dark brown, edged with yellow skin.

Habitat:

Oceans, bays, estuaries.

Notes:

Most common sea turtle in Florida.
