Field Notes

Description:

Bungarus candidus, commonly known as the Malayan krait or blue krait, is a species of krait, a venomous elapid snake. The Malayan krait may attain a total length of 108 cm (about 3½ feet), with a tail 16 cm (6¼ inches) long.

Habitat:

It is found in southeast Asia from Indochina south to Java and Bali

Notes:

I spotted this snake near a stream in the middle of the day. I ran to take 3 quick pictures before it went hiding between rocks and tree roots. I'm unsure about the identification, the snake was definitely less than 1-meter long.

After looking for other species of Bungarus, I found the 'candidus' which seems to be a better match.
