Field Notes

Description:

A bit over 10 cm mantid. Very good camouflaged among dry grass and sticks. Bummer he chosed the green rainy season :P

Habitat:

Magadzavane, rain season. Mixed forest, lubombo region.

Altitude: 543.799 m
latitude/longitude: -26.316624, 31.990292

Notes:

This mantid was one out of two my sharped eyed brother found, just before the rain started to fall, and the whole family had to take cover inside :)

I have found a possible match in this: Giant Grass Mantis, Danuria thunbergi, but I dont understand why it is sometimes referred to as Rivetina thunbergi? Loat in the mantid jungle!
