I don't know how warm it should be for a 3rd generation, but I do not think either that 2012 would be exactly a 3rd generation year...

I didn't know about the 3rd generation... It hasn't been warm this year so I don't think it is that... They were flying after eachother all the time. Are they territorial or is it a mating thing? I think it must be what you suggest: an intermediate form between Levana and Prorsa...

I do not find any information about the sexual diphormism. But #4 might be an intermediate form between Levana and Prorsa (Araschnia levana f. prorsa), called Araschnia levana f. porima or even a 3rd generation which could happened in a warmer period.

Bayucca do you mind take a look at #4 which is different from the other shots. Is it because it's a female perhaps or the other way around? I can't find anything about what the difference between the sexes is...
