Field Notes

Description:

A medium-sized moth with a copper sheen characterized by the two parallel lighter lines, hence the Genus name, Parallelia.

Habitat:

Despite the name, the Maple Looper feeds on a variety of deciduous trees; favorites include birches, maples (preferably Acer rubrum, the Red Maple), and walnuts.

Notes:

Came to a somewhat dim outside light.
