Thanks a lot for the direction, Daniele - you've been very close. It's the Stachys palustris, growing in marshy land and near swamps.
Hi Lars! For sure a Lamiaceae. I think the leaves are wrong for Lamium maculatum. See what you think of my suggestion. I couldn't immediately find a English or German reference but I didn't try very hard:-)
Thanks Savannah, but no, it's definetely no Sage. It reminds more of a Deadnettle or Melissa, but these grow on dry soil not like this one on wet.
I want to say Sage/Salvia.... but I am uncertain.
