Field Notes

Description:

About 7-8 millimeters in body length, colored as shown.

Habitat:

Inside a downtown parking garage, near a row of lights.

Notes:

These spiders usually reside in tubular silken retreats on the perimeter of the web, but will sit in the hub of the web at night and sometimes on cloudy days. The orb web has a triangular, open sector which gives this spider its common name. The species is native to Europe, introduced to North America.
