A small (base to tip wing length: max 2.5 cm) moth/butterfly resting on my backpack.

Habitat:

mixed deciduous forest in temperate region

JJ_Andin is correct, this is a member of the Lycaenidae familly. Not Lycaena hyllus which is a North American butterfly.

its a Lycaenid butterfly, definitely. looks a lot like a Polyommatus sp. to me.. are the upperside wings blue?
