Field Notes

Description:

This horse was the size of a donkey but does not have rounded ears and short erect mane so is likely a horse, either young or from a small breed. Actually this photo was for another species - see here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/17216073

Habitat:

Coastal marshes

Notes:

A lot of the local residents keep their animals on the land in and around the marshes.

Hi Malcolm! Technically speaking the scientific name for a mule would be, as a hybrid, Equus asinus x Equus caballus. The name Equus mulus is sometimes encountered but disputed, as the large majority of mules are sterile and do not meet the criteria for a species. Equus sp. is technically correct. I like the second species in the spotting!
Im sure this is a Mule that makes it a hybrid (could not find scientific name) sorry
