Field Notes

Description:

Variable in color, usually light brown. The underparts vary from white to brownish yellow-brown. The long, bushy tail has light and dark bands running across it.(Smithers' mammals of southern africa a field guide. fourth edition)

Habitat:

Evergreen and riverine forest.

Notes:

This species usually is not present in this area, but only in Mozambique. Nonthelesssince the only squirrel species present is totally different, and it has the typical stripes of the sun squirrel, I think it has been introduced in the park.

The Eurasian red squirrels and shy and discreet in my experience, unless they are habituated. The invasive greys are more approachable!
Thankyou :D After seeing so many in Africa I would really love seeing as much back in Europe :)
