Field Notes
Description:
Large rodent, native to S America that has been introduced to the US for the fur trade. The dense undercoat is valued in clothing.
Distinguished from the native muskrat by its larger size, round furred tail, hiigh domed back and whitish fur on its muzzle
Habitat:
This one was traveling the flood waters to find new territory. Fortunately for the native ecosystem, it failed
Notes:
I photographed this one on the way to work, by lunch time someone (probably the same someone who took the beaver body) had taken it
