It happens elsewhere - I was browsing a book on kingfishers and there are a number of plates with 4 species illustrated and which look identical to the untrained eye eg River Kingfishers. Birds, though, are so much better researched and documented. With insects so many are not illustrated or pictured in popular forums. It is a problem that worries me because we could be missing so much in our ignorance
Look at the link and the other pictures in the links below: A perfect patch with Eurydema ornata! Great, isn't it?? But the problem is that Eurydema ornata is a European species! So, how did this guy get to India?? I didn't find any information about this genus or have seen similar species in India. Somehow I can't imagine this perfect matched Pentatomidae are not the same species!?! http://www.flickr.com/photos/pulp-o-rama/5977228985/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pulp-o-rama/5977229101/in/photostream/ Color variation! Take #4! That's YOUR's!? http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/heteroptera/Pentatomidae/Eurydema_ornatum.html Color variation! http://www.flickr.com/photos/49700100@N04/6032367115
