Field Notes

Description:

Lycaenidae; Lycaeninae; Polyommatini; Lampides boeticus Linnaeus, 1767.
The Peablue is easily recognised by its silvery white pubescence on the underside of its body. This one appears to be a female, because of the dark upper wing colouring. The males are much lighter, on the upper wings and have a pale blue colouring which would be seen in the partly open wing picture. The females also have some blue, but only down near the base of the wings.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard on String Beans (Vigna unguiculata) locally called Sitaw. Plant identifiocation - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Sitaw
