Field Notes

Description:

This bivalve mollusk was about 18-20cm long, with an elongated, wedge-shaped shell. It was anchored in the substrate, with about three-fourths of the shell exposed.

Notes:

I was surprised to find this pen shell at this dive site (Dayang Beach, Talikud Island) -- it was the first time for me to see one after nearly a hundred dives there. It was in about 12m of water.
