Plane
Bindahara phocides
6.73185, 81.099
Field Notes
Habitat:
It flies all over the island and reasonably common in some months of the year in the low country wet zone. It does not ascend above 2500 feet.
Notes:
The larvae feed inside the fruit of creeper, Salacea reticulate of family Hippocrateaceae.
Larvae (Caterpillar)
When fully fed it leaves the fruit and evidently burrows in to the bark of the tree, making hard for it to be seen by predators.
