Field Notes

Description:

A black widow spider with a bright red linear stripe on the female. She has killed a harlequin bug. These spiders are feared although fatalities are rare, the last being in 1956. Males are diminutive. They are common and widespread in Australia.

Habitat:

In the garden shed.

Notes:

USA have the same genus of black widow spider.
She clearly didn't want me to do the gardening
