Description:
Roe Deer are found in many parts of England, Scotland and many parts of Wales.
Roe Deer can be found throughout the year.
For deer will feed on grass and leaves, mainly at dawn or dusk. They can be found in woodland or fields mainly, as long as cover is nearby!
Roe Deer's winter coat is greyish in colour. Their winter coat is more id a reddish brown colour. They have a short tail with a white rump. They also have long ears compared to other species of deer.
Roe deer are monogamous, and are normally found in smaller groups, rather than large herds.
Roe deer fawns are born in May to June.
Only the Red and Roe deer are native to Britain.
We spotted two deer this evening whilst out mountain biking in a favourite route, they were pretty close to the outskirts of the town.
Habitat:
Woodlands, fields as long as shelter is nearby.
Notes:
I spotted this Deer whilst out on a Somerset walk with my wife. It was a lovely bright day, although chilly at times. The Deer stood and watched us for a good few minutes, I even managed to move to a different area to change the angle of the photograph.
The Deer was a good 200 yards plus away from us but did show some fear due to it freezing. At one point I was concerned that it might have been a joke played on us by a farmer as it was so still, I thought it may have been a dummy!
