Field Notes

Description:

Caps were 2-3 inches in size, very flat, and red in color with a pale, yellow ring around the margin. Pores were pale yellow. Stem was short and was pale yellow with red streaks. The pores bruised faintly with a very slight touch. Them stem also bruised very quickly and after a gentle touch.

Habitat:

Spotted growing in the leaf litter in a hardwood forest. It’s usually a damp area, but was very wet because it had just rained.
