Field Notes

Description:

Its shell, trapezoidal and between 22-36 millimeters in length, can be olive green or light brown. It is decorated by light green or yellow streaks. The eyes protrude slightly from the body. The claws are slightly uneven and are larger in the male than in the female. The four pairs of legs are provided with hair and are adapted to running and climbing, but not to swimming. The lower part of the body has a pale color.

Habitat:

It is found on the European coasts, from the British Isles to the Black Sea.
I found it on some rocks on the shore of the largest salt lagoon in Europe. the Mar Menor.
