Field Notes

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Heliconiini; Cupha arias arias C.& R. Felder 1867. The ventral view when wings are in the resting position, shows almost exactly the same colours and markings as the dorsal, but greatly faded.

Habitat:

This Rustic was spotted on roadside foliage in a quiet area well away from houses and people. The road is on a steep slope at about 200 ft. elevation. I have always seen many butterflies (and other creatures) there. So it has become one of my favourite places to spot some more specimens to photograph.
