Field Notes

Description:

A soft brown scale about 5 mm in length with a segmented body. Along and under the posterior end of the body was a white fluff, so soft that it was being blown by the wind and the long fibres covering most of the body. This is the egg case of this female.

Habitat:

Spotted on a stem of a eucalyptus sapling in a recreation reserve - Ferntree Gully Quarry.

Notes:

? Pulvinaria.

I am unsure of the species of this scale but will do further research.
