Field Notes

Description:

Robust, clump-forming rush with tall, narrow and cylindrical leaves ending in a sharp spine. Clusters of reddish brown flowers are also topped by a sharp spine and appear March-May.

Habitat:

Sandy ground, usually coastal. Widespread.
