Description:
Shallow shelving brackets all in a line arising from dead wood. Pic #1 shows the largest bracket ( 50mm across) with concentric velvety rings. the others were shallower. The underside of the log showed a creamy frilly layer of these fungi with the fertile surface exposed. The surface bore flat teeth like openings or irregular tubular pores.
These clusters looked like sheep wool rugs with dark trimmings !
Habitat:
This was spotted on a silver birch branch, Sais to colonise a range of hard and soft woods
