Field Notes

Description:

Brown fly with fuzzy thorax and abdomen. The wings are dark brown other than the back edge of the wings that has a wavy pattern.

Habitat:

Bushes in riparian area along trail at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. This species is found throughout most of the US.

Notes:

"SINUOSA: from the Latin "sinus" (a curve); "sinuous" means curving in and out; winding; undulating - refers to the wavy border of the black area on the wings" - BugGuide
