Field Notes

Description:

14 legged insect. Abdomen segmented. Wings absent. Medium sized antennae, bristle-like. Black with yellow dots. Isopods (Isopoda) lack a carapace and are dorsoventrally flattened and the 7 pairs of cephalothoracic appendages are leglike.

Habitat:

Most Isopods are marine, but the group includes sowbugs (pillbugs) which are common under stones or bark.
