Description:

A male spangled cotinga at Sedgwick Zoo. This bird is prized for its beautiful feathers and meat. Local tribes use the feathers to make fishing lures and flies. This bird is well liked by birdwatchers so it helps with local economies via tourism as well. The Spangled Cotinga lives high in the canopy of the Amazon rainforest. They mostly eat fruit.

The canopies of the Amazon Basin.
