Thanks Patty and Sarala Jeevanthi. PerilsofPlastic, it was weighted down by the water droplets. And Jellis, I couldn't get to the front of the spider because it was on a steep slope.
is the web wieghed down by water droplets? nice one. This looks like an orbit weaver of the Araneus species. European Garden Spider, "Araneus Diadamatus."
Most likely a Neoscona species. It's not really that easy to tell what species it is because the dorsal (upper) view isn't available.
too bad you didn't get one closer to the front. They don't jump as far as I know. I've ran into a few and I mean into their webs. I have a couple of Orb Weavers in my spottings.
