Field Notes

Description:

Largish moth (third photo shows my pointer finger for comparison). Attractively polka dotted in black and white; touch of yellow near the head.
It sat with its wings open.

Habitat:

Drawn towards the porch light and resting on the bamboo walls of a cottage at Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area situated at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of the Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

I thought such a distinctive moth would be easy to ID on image-search; but NO. I need help, please.

Thanks, Hema. Another of my moths now has a name and an ID.
A very similar moth is found in Malaysia. Xenoplia sp. https://www.flickr.com/photos/botalex/4199141589/
