Field Notes

Description:

gregarious, medium-sized antelope; extremely 'neat' looking, graceful animal with a rich sandy brown back, lateral black stripe along the flanks and a snow white underside / belly and tail.

Habitat:

open, dry grassland and plains

Notes:

This small herd was encountered in the Khutsi Game Reserve situated in the Kalahari Dessert. These days herds usually number up to 40 or 60 individuals but local stories suggest herds consisting of many 100's a matter of half a centuary ago
