Description:

Small, hemispherical insects that really don't resemble insects at all. Waxy coating of insect is hard, shiny brown with pale stripes.

Habitat:

These were infesting an ornamental pine in a residential urban neighborhood.

Notes:

Conifers that are planted in less-than-optimal situations are often more vulnerable to scale insects than their wild counterparts.
