The layer between the golden brown flesh and pores stains nearly black (dark blue) when cut/damaged. There is a white veil over pores on younger specimens. Stipes are very short, golden brown, and covered in glandular dots. Gelatinous brown annuli are present on some older specimens. Spore print is dark cinnamon brown. There is a mild, slightly sour taste to the slime/veil.
