Field Notes

Description:

This is the winter fruit on one of the sumacs of the southeastern United States. I am hoping that someone can identify the species. Unfortunately, I do not have a pic of the leaves as this the plant is deciduous and was photographed in mid December.

Habitat:

Open area on a dam at constructed ponds in east-central Georgia.

Either Rhus copallina or Rhus glabra. Do you have any pics of the leaves?
