Field Notes

Description:

Inspiration for Clark's Teaberry gum, the Teaberry, Gaultheria procumbens, has a very sweet, tea- like, sugary-mint flavor, which is very subtle (unless fermented for 3 days), yet one of the most wonderful flavors. The fruits are edible as well and only grow in sunnier areas. They are considered the heath of an oak-heath forest.

Habitat:

Moist woodlands. Perhaps a oak-heath forest.
