Field Notes

Description:

Termites and maybe tiny red ants. They had probably been disturbed during transit or come out in the dark thinking it was night, then suddenly got put in direct sunlight!

Habitat:

Top surface of soil in a small Calabacin plant we had just purchased and planted out.

Thanks for that, I went back and looked closer at the originals and have cropped some individuals from what was the second picture (now 4th) and put them in the first two places. The first one is definitely a Termite! The second has what looks like two ants, one very small, but the other I'm not sure. No sign of them now. It is a Calabacin plant, far from the house but close to Olive and Pine trees.
Malcom, they look like termites to me.
