Yes, it is, Noel. Termites don't lay egg cases, the queen lays the eggs directly, like ants do. They are cared by the labourers, through all the phases until they are adults. Those individuals with large orange heads are the soldier termites.
That is an excellent observation with many different castes shown of the termite community.
asergio,you mean that whitish egg case like structure with the head is a queen?!!
It seems that the termite's nest was destroyed and the termites needed to leave. The big fat girl in the lower center is the queen, and she almost never leaves the nest. Possibly these termites are moving to another nest.
Emma, I am not sure on that. I just saw them on the side of the road near the house where the owner discovered them :-)
did they all emerge from one egg case?
