Field Notes

Description:

Only about a centimeter tall, this little mushroom would be easy to miss. Stem is very dark, looks like maybe an elephant hair, and there are similar stalks nearby without caps on them.

Habitat:

In moss and detritus on top of a fallen-over cherry tree that's half alive.

Notes:

One drop of rain pretty much encased the cap.
