Field Notes

Description:

With a wing span of about 20 mm, this geometrid moth had copper-coloured wings with patches of green and a double wavy white line in the submarginal area. An orange patch was obvious near the apex of each fore wing.

Habitat:

Spotted on a wall near a sports field

Notes:

The moth was resting in a strange position with a convexity to the wings, making it difficult to get a good clear shot of the hind wings.

Probably a Carpet Moth, Chrysolarentia sp. from Subfamily Larentiinae
