Description:
These butterflies always land head down on flat vertical surfaces like tree trunks, walls and posts etc and spend most of the day perching on such surfaces against which they are camouflaged.
They acquired their common name due to the unusual way that males produce a "cracking" sound as part of their territorial displays.
Habitat:
This one was perched on the side of a house in cleared land in tropical rainforest
