Woah psychedelic color patterns.
They make a loud cracking sound Pam hen they fly!

Hamadryas feronia is reported from Ecuador and I think it is the Variable Cracker.
It does, "Range: Argentina and Brazil north through tropical America to Mexico. Strays to the lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas." (BAMONA) and the coloration is perfect for H. feronia.
Thanks for the suggestion Fyn. I'm not sure if the range of Hamadryas feronia includes Ecuador though.
Thanks Carol & Gerardo! I had no idea why they are called "crackers" until I encountered this guy & heard the distinctive cracking sound they make.
