Description:

Coleoptera; Coccinellidae; Coccinellinae; Coccinellini; Coelophora inaequalis (Fabricius, 1775). This species of Ladybird gets its name from the fact that the black marks, on the elytra, display great variation from individual to individual. 

Because we don't use pesticides in our vegetable plot, we depend greatly on these ladybirds to keep aphids and whitefly to a minimum. This season, however, the pests arrived earlier than usual and the ladybirds arrived rather late. So, it looks like we won't have much of a crop. this time . 

Habitat:

These Variable Ladybirds were spotted, in our backyard, on String bean (Vigna unguiculata), known in the Philippines as Sitaw. The plant identification is from: https://www.stuartxchange.org/Sitaw.html...
