Venus Flytrap

The Venus Flytrap uses modified leaves that can close in a tenth of a second to catch insects for food. The inside of the trap secretes nectar to lure insects to land or crawl onto it. Once the insect is on the trap they are at risk of triggering one of the 3 trigger hairs on each half of the trap. If they touch one hair the trap is set, a second touch of the hair and the trap snaps closed like a bear trap sealing the bug inside. The inside of the trap then secretes digestive fluids and absorbs the nutrients from the bug through the leaf.
