Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful turqouise bug. About the size of my fingernail :-)
It walked kind of funny and fell over a lot. It kept opening its wings a bit but never took off.

Habitat:

Around our house/garden, near jungle and mangroves, Rasada, Phuket, Thailand.

Notes:

I drove off and on the bonnet of the car was this little bug upside down, legs in the air. :-) I stopped and let him climb on my hand and took these pictures. He did not like having his face captured on film as he kept turning his back to the camera!

YES that's the one! Anyone knows the species name???
Here's one that looks similar but alas no species name :-( http://captainkimo.com/crazy-looking-blue-bug-eating-leaf-from-phuket-thailand/
Thank you S Frazier. Love some help!
Hello. Sorry, this is not a Eupholus sp. because that genus occurs only in New Guinea and nearby islands. (To see Eupholus, see the "related spottings" on this page). I did not see your species on http://www.thaibugs.com/?page_id=284 but I will look some more. Cheers
I looooooove weevils my screen picture is a painted weevil
I know Yuko they are sooooo funny.
Yes thanks Adam. I just found similar shaped bugs on Google images. So I guess it is a weevil, Eupholus but what kind? Anyone know. From now on I LOVE THEM!
A weevil of some kind?
