Description:

This is a nymph of the wheel bug, a large assassin bug found locally. These are large, fairly docile insects--but if you accidentally put your hand on one, you'll know you've been somewhere! They have an extraordinarily painful bite.

Habitat:

Garden in mixed woods

Notes:

A generally beneficial insect that has even occasionally been spotted eating Japanese beetles.
