Field Notes
Description:
This tree seems to have experienced some discolouration throughout its branches. Many of the leaves appear to have either fallen off or are withering. Also, much of the bark has cracked and may indicate some deterioration.
Habitat:
There is a small sign at the base of this tree, along with a small plant which appears to be some kind of weed. The tree is planted in soil that is covered with grass. Nearby there is a group of cattails which are partially covered with a white substance. Another willow tree not visible in the pictures is in fairly close proximity (8-12m).
Notes:
There is some snow covering the cattails, indicating that the winter season is either approaching or has arrived. This explains why the leaves are missing and partially withered. However, the discolouration taking place on the branches may not be explained by seasonal changes. Thus, it would be wise to monitor this tree into the near future to determine if there are any deseases or pests present. If pests or deseases are indicated, then an application of pesticide may be required.
