Trees form an integral part of the landscape of the modern city. Though fewer are indigenous to the area upon development of a growing city, city planners, property developers, and landowners themselves see the value of trees. Trees are essential for shade and beautification, are important for air filtration, and are essential links in the overall biodiversity of the communities of organisms within Winkler.
Due to their importance, it is of great interest that the types and distribution of trees within the City are itemized and recorded. Through compiling a database of these trees, the City of Winkler - and other interested stakeholders - will have a working record of the tree ecosystem within Winkler and be able to better determine the overall health of the communities' organisms.
