right, thanks... I'll check! arlanda, what about these? do you know if this is Parmotrema perlatum? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12107878 and this one? Or do I have to check the type of rock first? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12142621
I know it sounds funny, but depending on the type of rock you can have different types of lichens. They are very different if they are on lime-type (basic) than in sliceous (acid) rocks.
thanks Arlanda, I'll see if I can find out what sort of rock it's on... all looks like rock, to me!
Maybe Aspicilia calcarea, specially if the rock on which it grows is limestone. http://fungi.myspecies.info/category/lichens/aspicilia-calcarea http://www.irishlichens.ie/pages-lichen/l-82.html
